Sand is the essential building block of modern civilization. It is all around us. In our buildings, in the concrete we walk on, in the windows we look through.
I challenged myself to use the sand as a sound source. In Sand, I put a magnifying glass on the grains of sand to create a space to wander. Through crackling grains to colossal layers of sound and back again. By tilting the perception of size and approaching sand from different perspectives, I explore how we relate to the smallest grains in a larger perspective in search of a listening mode with an ear to the earth.
You can listen to Sand on Bandcamp and Soundcloud. It is originally composed as a 4-channel composition. All sounds are based on recordings of different variations of sand and fieldrecordings in the dunes.
